September 2010
Where did the summer go- Or for that matter this year? WOW this is our September issues (we're into the last quarter of 2010) the nights are getting shorter and the days colder and before you know it you fair weather Airsofters are starting to pack your gear away, quite frankly the winter here in the UK is pants. I don't know about your guys? But I have never quite understood moving the clock forward in summer and backwards in winter (or is it the other way around?) Surly it would benefit the whole of the UK if we kept to British Summer time? But don't worry because Ai is here to brighten up those dark winter nights and illuminate your way through the Airsoft world. We're not going to simply publish one issue then wait almost a year to get another one out, we do that with our special edition, but in-between you'll find another 12 issues packed to the rafters with up-to-date informative, well thought out informative editorial that make you guys come back for more. Talking of "more" (that's a tenuous link if there ever was) we seem to be picking up a whole lot of new players to airsoft throughout the world. One question that keeps on popping up in my inbox is for us to revisit previous features? Which on the surface sounds like a plan, but for the majority of our fans that have been with us since day one, wouldn't necessarily give them value for money. So that's why we are constantly looking for new ways to bring you new readers right up to speed. This month we launch yet another series of articles (aimed right at you) called The Anatomy of a Gun, put simply it highlights the different parts of an AEG, what they are there for and how they work? You never know? You experienced guys out there might learn a thing or two. The futures bright, the future is Ai.
Informed readers are happy readers that will buy with confidence. You can trust Ai. -Thousands of Airsofters throughout the World do.

FREE POSTER WITH THIS EDITION
The Futures Bright...... I know I keep on saying that, but it's true, you may have noticed that Ai is now 92 pages in length and published 13 times a year, why? Because we have the partners and distribution, not to mention the Airsoft Trade distribution to make Ai what it is and that put simply is the biggest selling Airsoft publication out there, and that's pretty much down to you guys our Readers, Advertisers and Partners. Why do we have such a huge following? That's pretty simple, it's because we give you what you want! That's a regularly published, informative in your face Airsoft publication that does what it says on the tin "Airsoft International" An international Airsoft publication, that doesn't rely on Airsoft Trade sales to get its message across, but has a huge global News Trade presents. We've been asked to jump into a number of events as media partners and will be showcasing Airsoft publishing at its very best at the IWA show next year (it will be great to meet some of our German fans out there), but please don't talk about the football! This month I have to sadly report the loss of a good friend and contributor to Ai as Gadge sails off into the sunset to pursue his career- we here at Ebcon wish him all the very best. However the good news is that long term friend (Bill Thomas) joins us as a much more regular contributor and importantly an events manager to the Ai brand, he'll be looking after the AI500 and some other interesting things he has up his sleeve, not to mention the logistics and planning of our away missions to Europe and the USA. The futures bright, the future is Ai. |

92 page bumper edition
Devil's in the detail
Hello and welcome to your 13th Issue of AI for this year, why a 13th issue? Well that's simple, we publish every 4 weeks which means that there are 13 lost of 4 weeks (13 issues) - which no other airsoft publication in existence can do. I don't know why its relatively easy (well for us anyway) other publishers will make random claims about world exclusive's, but I don't get it? What's the point of having a world exclusive, when you have very little readership or no route to market to speak off. Historically our 13 issue has always been a special edition (and this one is no different) - it's all about the Devils in the detail. Whether you want to mod your tactical gear or completely up grade your shooter or give it some TLC then this is the issue that you have been waiting for. Don't worry it's not a simple rehash of old work (yes there are a few articles that have appeared before) but we've updated and refreshed them, we've also thrown in some never published before "Devil's in the detail". So kick back relax and let us take you on a journey through the world of modification. - The futures bright, the future is Ai.

92 page bumper edition
Ready, Steady Go! When this brick of an edition lands on your door mat, it might hit with a bit of a thud? - We've had to go up in size yet again. We are now not only the biggest airsoft mag out there; we are by far the biggest in terms of printed page. This issue is a whooping 92 pages in length, okay admittedly there are 30 pages of advertising, but if you do the math? That still gives you a huge 62 pages of pure Airsoft editorial. Why? Well that's simple we have to go up in size to accommodate the advertising demands placed on Ai and we firmly believe (and won't) turn Ai into an advertising graveyard. In actual fact I seem to remember setting my stall out (some time ago) with the intention of becoming a 100 page plus publication, and we're not far off that target. I suspect that by the end of 2010 we'll be right up there, but more importantly for you guys we won't be seeing a hike in the cover price, or a foreseeable hike in our ultra competitive ad rates.
The Ai500 is in full swing and by the looks of the player registrations its already turning into "A Must attend event "the goodie bag for the first 500 players is also increasing in value (I recon there is an RRP in the regain of £150.00).
One question I received from a registered player was "Why are we trying to outdo other big games out there"? The simple answer is that we are not, we are not a games organiser (that's why we have tied in with Airsoft World) for the first event, but for us it's a way of giving back something to our huge fan base.

All Showed out
As you guys read this issue of Ai, our advertisers are off at the IWA expo in Germany (It's kind of a much smaller Shot Show) and as usual they will be beating the drum for the Airsoft Community. It's an ideal show for the European Tactical and Airsoft markets. Because of tight deadlines we were unable to fit this show in this year but have already done our schedules for next year to make sure we can attend the expo as not only a Premier Airsoft Publication, but also as a Premier Independent Military Publisher (with Ai's sister publication Raider). We will of course bring you all of the latest news and products from the show. We have been asked if it's possible to run a national UK Expo for Airsoft? It's something that we would love to be able to do, but that's something planned for the future, the closest thing we can offer is our popular Ai500 events and that's coming to the UK very, very soon. The problem we have with the Ai500 UK is finding a big enough venue. Military sites are not guaranteed, which means the game could get bumped (with very little notice), but I believe that we have found a possible venue now ? so watch this space, it's gonna rock your world. Imposters... By now you guys would have seen the incoming letter we published in the last issue, since we have received a few calls in the office pointing out (as we suspected) that the individual in question was not a member of any SF group and we doubt very much if he was a member of the armed forces our question is why do people do that? Granted we play at being soldiers, but that is all we do. There is no need at all to be what you're not, there is certainly no need to wear a Para or Marine Beret out there on the skirmish field (you didn't earn the right) this is why the military community shuns (for the most part) the airsoft community. There is no need for it at all, we play a combat hobby - it's not a sport and will never be, if it were recognised as a legitimate sport, then we would have the possibility of displaying the sport at the Olympics (As Paintball will be). We play a militaristic game called AIRSOFT, let's keep it that way and enjoy what we do for what it is. Airsoft is many things to different people, not always militaristic, but should always be fun. March 2010
Shot Show- tastic As we rush to get this issue off to press, The Shot Show is well and truly on our Radar and as with the past 4 years Ai will be there banging our drum for the airsoft community. It seems that this year is going to be a bumper year at Shot Show for Airsoft manufactures (as well as retailers) and you know what? Ai has exclusive meetings with all of them, which means that Ai will be the first with the news and more importantly reviews on all that's hot to come out of the 2010 Shot Show. Over the past 5 years we have watched the airsoft industry struggle to get a foot hold in what is the world's largest Shooting Sports show but it looks like they've cracked it. Not only are the manufacturers and retailers accepted, but real deal manufactures are now working with airsoft manufactures to produce licensed products for the airsoft world. Watch this space for first look reviews and reports from the 2010 Shot Show. |

What can we expect? As we slip effortlessly into a brand new year, what can we expect from the airsoft world, well...? I have to tell you that where I'm sitting things look pretty good, the UK market seems to be storing ahead (with a heap of new sites opening) Europe seems to be doing the same thing and as for the US? The industry seems to be recovering from what was a bad year in terms of retailer sale. In fact things are certainly on the up. For us here at Ai we enter the new year with confidence, not only can we see 2010 as being another record breaking year in terms of distribution Finland and the UAE news trade have found us and I've gotta to tell you that there are some incredible skirmish sites popping up in the UAE, which are quite simply amazing and as far as Finland is concerned we aim to be the biggest distributed Airsoft magazine there as we are in a number of countries throughout the world. As far as TOD is concerned we should have confirmed dates in the next few weeks, there is also a series of WWII games in the pipeline, plus we are planning not one but three different AI500 games in 2010 (two in the US and one in the UK). |

January 2010
Welcome to 2010... Hi Guys I hope you all have a great Christmas. Christmas in real terms hasn't even happened for us yet as I'm sitting here writing this forward at the end of November, but I know as every year it's going to be great (it always brings the little kid out in me). I'm especially looking forward to Christmas morning with my children and watching them ripping open their presents and then joining in their games. It's a special time of year where families and loved ones should be together. But there are going to be children and families that have had their loved ones ripped away from them due to the hostilities in Afghanistan. Remember guys that Airsoft is a combat hobby and thankfully we can walk safely off a skirmish field and go home to our loved ones, but there are brave men and women that do this for real and some of them won't be coming home. Honour their memory and think of their families. Paul

December 2009
It's that time of year again....... It's Christmas!
It's odd sitting here writing this forward in late October, when Christmas is a whole 2 months away, but the reality is that our Christmas edition (this issue) comes out mid way through November (in time for Christmas) - that's the reality of news trade distribution so I guess you could say that Christmas comes early for the Ai crew? So to help you guy out we're publishing our annual Christmas stocking filler list, which essentially is a look back over the last 12 issues (of Gear Zone) and we identify what we'd like to see in our Christmas stocking this year. Also in this issue we publish the results on not only the BAPS (British Airsoft Players Survey) ? which makes for some interesting reading in its own right, but we also announce the winners of the coveted Airsoft Industry awards 2009. It was your vote that produced the winners in each category, so if your favourites did not win then you've only got yourselves to blame. Christmas is a time for giving and thanks to Edgar Brothers this issue has a pretty impressive free gift for all of our UK readers and subscribers, a whooping 40 page plus catalogue from 5.11, which you know is going to be crammed full of tactical gear goodies that you're going to want. I suggest a book of post it notes, leave it in a tactically sound position and look forward to unwrapping your favourite items on Christmas morning, that's what I'm doing with my copy! To all of our Advertisers, friends, readers and subscribers, the Ai crew
Jay Ben CJ Gadge Frenchie Jack Sharon Jean
wish you all a very, very Happy Christmas. Xx
I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for your continued support; it's you guys that have made Ai the massive global success it is today. Thank you Paul |

November 2009
The digital age Who would have thought it? When we launched Ai, we were looking to establish a foothold on the Airsoft Scene, which we achieved with relative ease-let's face it we are the only quality monthly publication out there. Did I mention the biggest selling! We achieved this because our readers trust us not only to deliver 13 issues a year on time, but to be the first (publication) with news, views and in-depth commentary, but we do realise that it takes time for Ai news trade circulation to reach a number of its destinations. This lag (for us and I'm sure you guys) is frustrating, we also realise that our subscription price can be somewhat expensive (if ordering overseas) so we've come up with a solution ? Ai goes digital. In essence what this means is for the first time ever we will be able to offer a lightning fast electronic publication aimed directly at our subscribers (you'll even have the option of taking out an electronic subscription) which will keep costs down to a minimum. What makes this appealing is that the digital subscriptions price will be a fraction of our paper price and we all know that that's one of the cheapest out there. The downside is no free gifts just the cheaper digital version. A free sample of our electronic edition is already available on line so dial in and point your browser at http://www.net-paper.com/net-paper/aimagazine/Volume_5_Issue_3 It's not a PDF file but an all singing all dancing 3D version of your favourite Airsoft magazine. Informed readers are happy readers that will buy with confidence. You can trust Ai. Thousand of Airsofters throughout the world do. The Future's Bright ? the Future is Ai |
